Angela Hewitt, Recommended Recordings
Angela Hewitt is a great fan of music by Bach, which makes up a big part of her repertoire. She made some recordings that would be great for intermediate students who might be playing Little Preludes or Two-Part or Three-Part Inventions by Bach. Hewitt recorded all of them on her CD collection titled Bach/Hewitt on the Hyperion label. This 16-disc set includes more advanced works by Bach, such as French Suites, English Suites, Partitas, Toccatas, and the Goldberg Variations. Stheck if your local library has it!
Those students who want to see her play can watch her D.V.D. "Bach Performance on the Piano," also from the Hyperion label. Hewitt talks about performing music by Bach on a modern piano.
Hewitt also recorded several CDs with many of the Beethoven Piano Sonatas, all of Beethoven's Cello Sonatas, Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor, as well as works by other composers.
