Beginner's Corner
Chords: Help
students understand the concept of building chords out of thirds by
pointing chords out in their music. You can also ask students to
build triads on randomly chosen notes. Students could make chord
flash cards to help them memorize major and minor triads.
Pentatonic Scales
Students will have more fun learning about pentatonic if they are
encouraged to improvise a fun tune on all black keys. Teachers may
choose to accompany students with black-key chords.
