Recital
Preparation
Many teachers hold end-of-year recitals to
celebrate all the work students have done. It is a great way to
create a sense of community in the studio and bring families closer
together. Students benefit from lots of practice with the routine of
a performance: getting onstage, bowing, settling into the correct
sitting position and posture, and then bowing again and exiting the
stage. Teachers may want to include practice recitals in the last few
lessons before the big event and encourage students to practice the
routine at home as well. Sometimes it helps if parents videotape a
practice recital and show students elements that can be improved.
The result will be a smooth, professional performance.
