The National School Orchestra Award is the counterpart to the Sousa Band Award and the highest honor you can bestow upon a member of the high school orchestra to recognize excellence in playing and contributions to the ensemble.
Each year give the winning student the Combination Set which includes the imported white marble desk piece (3"x21⁄2" base x 2 3⁄4" height), pin (1⁄2"x5⁄8"), and certificate (81⁄2"x11") with embossed gold seal.
To preserve the integrity of the Orchestra Award, schools are limited to one set of student awards per year or two in the event of a tie. Many schools honor additional students with the Director's Award for Orchestra.
